A creepily atmospheric new novel from the NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of THE REPLACEMENT
Clementine DeVore spent ten years trapped in a cellar, pinned down by willow roots, silenced and forgotten. Now she’s out and determined to uncover who put her in that cellar and why. When Clementine was a child, dangerous and inexplicable things started happening in New South Bend. The townsfolk blamed the fiendish people out in the Willows and burned their homes to the ground. But magic kept Clementine alive, walled up in the cellar for ten years, until a boy named Fisher sets her free. Back in the world, Clementine sets out to discover why her childhood was taken from her. But the truth gets muddled in her attraction to Fisher, the politics of New South Bend and the hollow, a fickle and terrifying place that seems increasingly temperamental ever since Clementine reemerged.
I strongly suspect that Brenna sacrificed her firstborn to the cover gods. Perhaps an internal organ or something along those lines. Can you believe this cover?! And she always gets the best ones, just remember: The Space Between, The Replacement, Paper Valentine!
But even if I weren't the shallowest person ever to have walked the Earth, this description totally left me desperate to read this. Ten years trapped under roots in a cellar? Only Brenna can pull off something like that.
So that's it from me. What are you guys excited about? Leave a link!
I love that cover, Maja. Brenna does have a very different and distinct style of writing that I enjoyed. Great choice! :)
ReplyDeleteCreepiest cover ever! So reading this :D
ReplyDeleteI've not read a book by this author before, but I've been contemplating getting the audio book of the Replacements from my library :) This cover is pretty awesome!

My WW!
I've still not read anything by this author, though I plan to. Her books seem so out of my usual range, but they all seem to be so well-liked and the covers are just too eye-catching. Great pick, Maja!
ReplyDeleteNow that's the cover! I totally agree, she gave her firstborn for sure. I mean look at it, it like speaks to you. Can you hear it? Honestly I would read pick this one from the shelf without even checking a genre. Hope the story won't disappoint though. Great pick, Maja :)
ReplyDeleteAhh I am SO excited about this book!
ReplyDeleteAnd I second what you said. She has the most gorgeous covers. It's ridiculous. I cannot even decide which one is my favorite. It's a tie between The Replacement and Paper Valentine. Although I still need to read The Replacement.... I'll get around to that :P Soon. Maybe :P
Great Pick Maja!! :D
I agree that cover is fantastic! I had no idea the author was on your auto buy Maja, now I want to read one of her books!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a creeptastic cover! I only read Paper Valentine by her, which was I was a bit disappointed (it's more of its sales pitch than her writing) in but I'll definitely check this one out.
ReplyDeleteI also added this one to my TBR list as soon as I saw the cover and read that blurb! She really has the creepiest and most gorgeous covers everrr!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I noticed about your post was this GORGEOUS cover, I should have guessed the author based on that alone:) She always has the most darkly stunning covers. This is absolutely going on my list Maja!

ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Brenna being an auto-buy author. She has such a lovely, unique way of writing about the world. And this cover is absolutely stunning! I think you're right, she's struck some kind of unworldly bargain to make sure all her covers are jaw droppingly beautiful. Great WoW pick!
ReplyDeleteI am sad to say I have yet to read anything by this author. BUT I've heard great things. THIS BOOK sounds fantastic. Creepy and fairytale-ish. Plus that cover is gorgeous. YUM.
