In My Mailbox #7

And we're come to out seventh In My Mailbox, a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren, where we show other lovely bloggers or whoever is interested which books we got during the past week. It's a lovely feature even though I have to confess that the effect is devastating. I'm not sure how many books I have added to my Mountain To Be Read because of these posts...

But let's see what Maja got this week:

I’m so excited about the books I got this week, guys! I bought a few from The Book Depository, just like every week, I received some for review via Netgalley and I even turned my library upside down this Wednesday. As a result, I have far too many books to share here with you, so I’ll just pick the ones I’m most excited about.

That Born Wicked cover has been driving me crazy since I first saw it. The reviews I’ve read have been all over the place, but I just had to own it. It’s very pretty and I can be very shallow, I’m afraid. On the other hand, most of the reviews of Article 5 have been positive. I’m a little tired of dystopias altogether, but I still want to give this one a chance. I got Stephen King’s new book from my library (luckily, it’s brand new), and I can’t wait to read it, even though it has 740 pages. I refuse to be intimidated, lol.
I got Struck by Jennifer Bosworth via Netgalley and I’m very surprised by how much I’m enjoying it. I also got The Raft by S.A. Bodeen and Before You Go by James Preller. And that would be all for this week, my lovelies.

As for yours truly, my week has been less fruitful, but equally awesome.
Maja has sent me a hardback copy of The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner as a birthday present (did ya know? I've just turned 20! *I wish*) which I am very excited to read since she swears it's the best book of the series.
Aside from that, which is already an awesome birthday present in itself, I got myself a US edition of Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley. I have to thank Catie at The Readventurer for that because she definitely piqued my interest with her comparative post of the two editions of this book.
Finally, I got Grave Mercy by R.L. Lafevers from NetGalley. I have to confess I was very excited to read this book but now that I've started it.... umm, I'm not so excited anymore. I'm only around the 20% mark though and I certainly hope it will get better.

I also got a very nice postcard from Philippines, courtesy of our friend Chachic at The Book Nook and a skin for my Kindle by Gelaskins!
Like it?

That's all for this week folks, I wish you a great, happy reading week!

  5. So much great stuff going on here. I'm glad you included stuff you got that wasn't necessarily books, Lisa:) I am still so curious about Grave Mercy. So many mixed reactions.

M, I'm excited to hear your reactions on Born Wicked and Article 5. I'm still undecided on those two...

  6. You two always seem to get the best books! Maja -- I have 11/22/63 sitting on my shelf but I am so intimidated by the size that it hasn't moved haha. Maybe if you read it and love it, I will be motivated!
And Lisa.. Grave Mercy! I can't WAIT to hear about that one! Gah! It sounds amazing!
    Great loot ladies =)!

  7. A great bunch of books there for you both. I am itching to get started on Grave Mercy myself - It's been getting a lot of positive feedback lately so I'm feeling hopeful it will be a great read. :) Maja, I really hope you enjoy Article 5. And don't you worry, I'm shallow too. Half the books on my shelf are the result of cover lust. ;)

  13. Lisa, you just had your birthday? Maligayang Kaarawan! :) I hope you had a great birthday. Maja's awesome for sending you The King of Attolia and I love that you took a picture of the postcard that I sent on top of it. There are two more postcards on their way to both of you as of this moment. :P

  14. Happy belated birthday, Lisa! :) Your gelaskin is gorrrrgeous. I think King of Attolia is my favorite in the series too. And Graffiti Moon is an all time favorite.

Maja, I can't wait to hear what you think about The Raft. I read her debut, The Compound, and thought it was solid, though uneven.

Loved Graffiti Moon, I hope you will enjoy it as well :)
I will get to Grave Mercy soon, I think.. if I get in the mood, I hope it's good as I've seen some good reviews.

  16. LOL Maja!! I'm the exact same way -- pretty covers always compel me to buy a book! x) I was head over heels in love with the cover for Born Wicked too, and I don't think I cared about the chance of not liking it when I bought it! Article 5 was definitely one of the better dystopias out there too. Chase was so darn sweet! <3

And happy belated birthday, Lisa!! :D I've only read bits and pieces of Graffiti Moon so far, but from what I can tell, it's already amazing! And I've heard some really cool things about Grave Mercy too!

Awesome mailboxes, you two! I hope you guys enjoy all of the books you got! :) <3

Lisa I still have to read Megan Whalen Turner's series, I can't wait to get started. I remember reading Catie's comparative post on the U.S and Aus version of Graffiti Moon, I look forward to seeing which one you prefer :)

  19. yay for graffiti moon <3

i still need to read 'the stand' by King ~ but it's 1400 pages (i think?) keep turning me off. Plus, I went to read it a month ago and the first few chapters FELL OUT. which, you know, felt like some kind fo sign or something, haha

looking forward to what you think of article 5 :)
