Waiting on Wednesday. Don't Look Back

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

For this week I've chosen a new book by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Title: Don't Look Back
Release date: April 15th 2014
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Hardcover, 384 pages

Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?
I'm not a big fan of contemporary, but it's JLA, you know? This has to be good! Plus, would you look at that cover?! April seems so far away, even though it really isn't.

What are you guys excited about this week? Leave me a link and I'll drop by. Or don't leave me a link and I'll drop by anyway. :)
Have a great Wednesday!

  4. I've grown rather tired of JLA lately, so I doubt I'll be picking this up unless I read truly spectacular reviews of it. Great pick, though, Maja!

  6. Hmmm, this book sounds similar to other books that I've read. But that cover, I remember having one of those little music boxes when I was young!

  7. I'm definitely going to wait to hear what you think of this book before because it sounds like so many other books out there (not surprising to be honest).

  8. Dolls. *shudder* Actually, this ballerina looks like the one in my jewelry box as a kid! Except she wasn't all creepified and looking in a cracked mirror. JLA certainly cranks those books out, doesn't she? Impressive.

  10. That cover is definitely creeptastic. I like that it looks like JLA might be going out of her comfort zone a bit with this one! And so happy that that couple isn't on the cover. *barf*

  17. Oh wow - I wouldn't guess that was by JLA from the summary or cover.

I'm not usually into the amnesia trope but this does sound pretty good.

  19. That cover is really original and the fact that the ballerinas don't match really creeps me out. I'm adding this to the ol' TBR.

  24. I have to admit that the premise for this one still hasn't grown on me much, but I know I'll probably end up pre-ordering it anyway! Like you said, it's JLA, and her books nearly always seems to work for me. I love the cover too.
