Waiting on Wednesday: Murder of Crows

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

For this week, I've chosen the sequel to one of the best adult books I've read in a long, long while.

Title: Murder of Crows
Author: Anne Bishop
Series: The Others
Release date: March 4th 2014
Publisher: Roc
Hardcover, 448 pages

Return to New York Times bestselling author Anne Bishop’s "phenomenal” (Urban Fantasy Investigations) world of the Others—where supernatural entities and humans struggle to co-exist, and one woman has begun to change all the rules….
After winning the trust of the terra indigene residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more.
The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murder of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard—Lakeside’s shape-shifting leader—wonders if their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or a future threat.
As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now, the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet—and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.
Even though the cover is totally unworthy of this wonderful series (just like the first one was) I still want to hold it in my hands so badly it hurts. Written in Red was everything I love about fantasy and/or urban fantasy (it's an odd blend, really) and I'm pretty confident the sequel will be just as good.

On a side note, I've been a bit slow to visit/comment on your blogs and I apologize. I'm on vacation, but more importantly, my 6-year-old is also on vacation from pre-school so we're mostly spending our days on the beach, which is something she thoroughly enjoys and I mostly just tolerate because I have no choice in the matter.

Still, I WILL visit and check out your WoW posts and anything else I might have missed tonight.
Love you, guys!
M.

  3. First of all, YAY for vacation! Seriously, enjoy it! I'm stuck in an internship all summer and it's BORING, so have my share of fun too, okay? :)

And also, I reallllyyyyy need to read Written in Red! I've been saving it since it's the only werewolf UF I have left and with the sequel looming so soon, I have to read it for sure. I love the cover of this one - it's much prettier than its predecessor. I'm hoping this is just as good as the first book! *fingers crossed*

  9. Maybe this will be the next UF I tackle after Mercy Thompson. Another 2014 release! Maybe it's a good thing it's going to take me a while to get to it! Great choice, Maja!

Have fun at the beach! It's a little hard with a 6yr old to just sit and relax with a book, but once they're all played out they come home nicely tired freeing you up! Lol! I remember. :)
