Sunday Post (6)

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I don't write these posts nearly often enough so when I finally do, there's far too much to share. Here are some of the reviews I posted in the last few weeks:

  • Yesterday, my review of Cat Winters' amazing debut, In the Shadow of Blackbirds. I'm pretty sure this book will get quite a few literary awards so hurry up and pre-order a copy if you don't already have one. :)
  • The lovely Sarah Skilton, author of BRUISED, wrote a guest post in which she talked about her main character, Imogen. Bruised is another debut I simply adored, so make sure to read her post and enter to win a signed hardcover copy of Bruised.
  • I reviewed Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
  • Jill Hathaway, author of IMPOSTOR and SLIDE, described a day in the writing life
  • And finally, the long anticipated seventh book in the Mercy Thompson series, FROST BURNED, came out. You can read my review here.

Here are some of the books I received:

Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris
A Darkness Strange and Lovely by Susan Dennard
The Shadow Girl by Jennifer Archer

Sanctum by Sarah Fine (because clearly I needed a hardcover)
The Trouble With Fate by Leigh Evans

Bunheads by Sophie Flack
Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts
Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs
Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison
The Poison Diaries by Maryrose Wood
Frost by Kathryn James
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

As for my new ebooks, here are just a few:

Next week, I'll be posting my reviews of Matched by Ally Condie (audiobook), 'Til the World Ends by Julie Kagawa, Ann Aguirre and Karen Duvall, Thursday, Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys and The Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. My stop on the Wasteland blog tour is also coming up this Thursday. I'm pretty excited about it.

As always, thank you to HarperCollins, Tor UK, Orbit UK and Hachette Children's.
I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. If you're a fellow blogger, please leave me a link to your post and I'll visit back right away. :)

  6. A DARKNESS STRANGE AND LOVELY! I am dying to read that one, so I hope you enjoy it! Also, I'm curious about your upcoming review for Clockwork Princess, mostly because I didn't like it at all. I've heard a lot of good things about Eleanor and Park as well as Gone Girl, so I can't wait to hear your thoughts on those. Sweet Evil seems to have been a hit-or-miss with most people, which is why I'm still so torn over starting it. I do hope you enjoy it, though, and lovely haul, Maja! :)

P.S. - I read Bruised yesterday and LOVED it! A million thanks for the rec!(:

  20. Tons of lovelies! I should really check out Sanctum, I've heard nothing but fantastic things about it. Dragon Bound is one paranormal romance I must check out, even considering how picky I am when it comes to that genre. Looking forward to seeing what you think of Black Out! 21. Yay for Gone Girl, Unbreakable and Sweet Evil Maja! As you know Gone Girl was one of my all time favourite reads last year, so I hope it leaves as much of a lasting impression with you too! There has been so much hype surrounding Sweet Evil, that I couldn't resist it any longer, let me know if you're interested in a read-along! I hope you enjoy all the rest of your books too hun! :)

  22. I am so jealous that you got Unbreakable, Maja! I sent a request email for that book to HarperTeen, but they ignored my email I think. :(

  23. Aaah Unbreakable!! So excited to get to that one after the enjoyment of Unraveling! So curious about the novella, as well. People seem to be HUGE fans of Sweet Evil, Eleanor & Park, and Gone Girl so I hope you get as much out of those ones as everyone else! I'm also pretty interested in Kiersten White's new book - I hope it does well in reviews. Well, you've clearly had a great week! I CANNOT wait to read your thoughts on Clockwork Princess!!!

  25. I've been really curious about Dark Inside—it seems like the kind of novel I'd really like. And Susan Dennard's series looks fabulous, though I haven't managed to read the first book just yet. I loved Robison Well's Variant duology, so I hope you'll be able to tell me that his new book is equally awesome.

Excellent haul, Maja! I'm really excited to hear your thoughts on just about all of these.

Will also be on the lookout for your thoughts on Blackout and Chaos of Stars. I know you liked Mind Games (and I reeeeally didn't), but we tend to agree often despite that, so if you like Chaos of Stars I'll most likely give it a shot.
