Something Wicked Returns: Veronica Rossi, Under the Never Sky Guest Post & Giveaway (INT)

Yes, you read that title right! I know, I can't believe it either! Today, the amazing, brilliant and extremely busy Veronica Rossi stopped by to share her recent reads with us. I doubt there's a YA lover left out there who hasn't read Under the Never Sky and fell in love with Aria, Perry, Roar and the rest of the gang. I know I have, which means I'm beyond thrilled to be able to welcome Veronica to my blog. It's basically a dream come true. Here's what she shared:

Thanks, Maja, for having on your blog! Here are a few of the books I’ve been reading:

The Things They Carried – Tim O’Brien

I read this collection of stories about the Vietnam War and its aftermath for research. I can’t remember the last time I read more powerfully written words. O’Brien is my hero. Really. This was the first time I read this book, but it absolutely won’t be the last.

Wait For You – J. Lynn

This New Adult novel was so much fun. I think it’s my favorite of Jennifer Armentrout’s books. I loved that this steered away from some of the tropes that are emerging in NA, toward fresher territory.

Sex & Violence – Carrie Mesrobian

This contemporary YA isn’t for everyone, but I really enjoyed it. Such an authentic portrayal of a teenage boy. Mesrobian doesn’t pull any punches. I’d recommend this to fans of Andrew Smith and for readers who loved Swati Avashti’s SPLIT, which I did. Oh, and Trish Doller’s SOMETHING LIKE NORMAL.

ABOUT VERONICA:
Veronica Rossi is the author of post-apocalyptic fiction for young adults. Her debut novel, UNDER THE NEVER SKY, is the first in a trilogy. Released in January 2012, it was deemed one of the Best Books of Year by School Library Journal. The second book in the trilogy, THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT, debuted in January on the NY Times and USA Today Best Seller Lists. The final book in the series, INTO THE STILL BLUE, is expected to release January 2014.

Foreign rights to the UNDER THE NEVER SKY trilogy have sold in over twenty-five territories to date and film rights have been optioned by Warner Bros.

She completed undergraduate studies at UCLA and then went on to study fine art at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. She lives in Northern California with her husband and two sons. When not writing, she enjoys reading, painting, and counting down the minutes until she can get back to making up stories about imaginary people.

  9. That is so exciting that you got Veronica Rossi on your blog to share the books she's been reading. I have to admit that I've only read the Jennifer Armentrout though. Unfortunately, I wasn't that big of a fan of it probably because I read too many NAs.

  41. JLA always knows how to turn up the chemistry between her characters. I enjoyed WAIT FOR YOU too, though I'm not sure I'd agree that it was completely original...I've heard so much about Sex & Violence, but I'm pretty terrified to actually read it! However, the most important thing is that I'm a HUGE HUGE fangirl of Veronica Rossi! LOVE HER TO PIECES. So fun you could have her on your blog today!

  42. lol *raises hand* I am quite possibly the last person on this planet that hasn't read Under the Never Sky yet. They are totally on my TBR and I have ever intention of reading them someday soon.

I recently read The Things They Carried too and was pretty blown away. Is definitely a candidate for a future re-read.
Many of my blogger friends have been raving about Sex & Violence lately.. I hadn't even heard of it till after it was published. Will have to check it out!
