This week's question:
If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book, which book would you choose and why?
I answered a question very similar to this one in one of our Faves of TwentyEleven posts this week, and my answer hasn't changed. It's Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta. I love the idea of living among the Italians in Australia. All these people have such an interesting history, and what's more, they have an amazing sense of belonging. Even though the older ones among them complain about being homesick and wanting to return to Italy, they are surrounded by their own people, their language and their culture and quite happy where they are. That sounds a little like heaven to me.
Thank you all for stopping by this Friday and a special thanks to our new GFC followers!

Thanks for the follow. Following back.
ReplyDeleteLove this book. I was forced to read it in high school and watch the film too, definately enjoyed it. I think the reason is was such a hit in Australia was because we all related to it. The majority of Australians have parents from foreign countries and we all have these communities of nationalities. Its a great way to feel part of something :)

I never, never, never would have thought someone would pick something so simplistic and family orientated. You know, I worked with an Italian family for three years and they made me an honorary family member. So much love, so much food and always full of stories of the old days. What a wonderful answer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for already checking out my blog. Old follower.
I've never read this one, but it looks interesting! Hope you have a great weekend!
